What is Hematuria?
Hematuria is the presence of blood cells in the urine. Hematuria can be classified as either gross or microscopic.

Gross hematuria occurs when there is enough blood in the urine to be visible to the naked eye. It can turn toilet water a pale pink or bright red color.

Microscopic hematuria occurs when there is a small amount of blood in the urine, only visible under a microscope.

Dipstick hematuria refers to a positive result on a urine dipstick test due to chemical oxidation, which may or may not indicate the presence of actual red blood cells.
